parking tips for canisius golden griffins hockey vs. niagara purple eagles hockey at harborcenter (buffalo ny 01/30)

hey folks, figured i'd share some parking tips for the canisius vs niagara game on 01/30. the harborcenter is awesome right by canalside, but navigating the downtown parking and the traffic line, especially on a weekday, can be a headache. you definitely want a plan.

first off, if you want the ultimate shortcut to skipping traffic and getting an honestly way cheaper spot right next to the venue, check out the Prked app. people list their private driveways or empty garage spots that are often right around the corner from the main lot exit, letting you skip the whole mess for a short walk. way cheaper than event pricing and you're guaranteed a space.

for traditional options, the lecom harborcenter parking ramp attached to the building is the most convenient option, hands down. for most canisius home games, they keep it cheap, like a $5 flat rate, which is a total steal for that area. the biggest catch is that if there's a big event next door at keybank center, the ramp might switch to "permit only," so be ready to talk to the attendant right away to get directions to a convenient alternate site. buffalo traffic is minimal compared to bigger cities, but since 01/30 is a weekday, if it’s an evening game, plan to get there 45-60 minutes early to avoid the worst of the rush hour and secure a spot in that ramp.

if the attached ramp is full or permit-only, there are tons of commercial lots around. these will cost more, ranging from $20 up, but you can pre-book a guaranteed spot using apps like spothero. check out the cobblestone lot (155 washington st), aud lot 2 (1 commercial st - usually one of the cheaper commercial options), lot #52 on exchange street, or the 33 scott st lot which is super close. keybank center also has its own ramps and lots, and they are all cashless.

for street parking, remember downtown meters around canalside and keybank center are enforced from 8 am all the way to 10 pm, monday through saturday. you absolutely have to feed the meter. if you want a free street spot, you’ll need to walk a bit farther- look north of seneca street, where parking often becomes free after 5 pm. places like moore street between ohio and south park ave are about a 10 minute walk and a solid, cheaper alternative. you can also try parking at the casino and walking a few blocks, or even parking elsewhere and taking the nfta-metro rail right to the canalside stop.

hope this helps and go griffs!
