Auto generated captions defaults to Welsh and I cannot change it to English

As in the title, I have a video that is entirely in English, i do not live in Wales and I do not speak Welsh, yet the autogenerated captions constantly default to Welsh and I cannot change it to English, at all. Please help! I am wasting so much time trying to caption a simple video.
