# [P R O P O S A L]

Hello again all!

This time, I'm here with not a ~~Premium~~ but an *Event Squad* **proposal**, and this one just-in-time for the Lunar New Year!

I know the actual squad we're going to be getting isn't this one (data miners know what's up), but still, I'd like to float this squad proposal out there all the same, as I feel it's a sorely needed compliment to the recent inclusion of a Manchurian Campaign: The collaborationist **Manchukuo Imperial Army**.

# History

Formed up mostly from members of the Fengtian Clique who deserted *en masse* following the Japanese take-over of Manchuria, these ethnically Manchu collaborators functionally 'sold' their services to the Japanese Empire to maintain their positions they had acquired during the Warlord Era in China.

Deployed during the Pacification of Manchuria, these units were observed by their new Japanese employers to see how deep their loyalty truly was. For most, it was only about as far as a paycheck went, as brutalizing peasants was not much an issue for them, but their performance was something of a disgrace when they saw their first taste of actual combat during the border skirmishes with the Soviets at Nomohan in the summer of 1939.

However, despite this, two groups did set themselves apart from all the others: the "Jing'an" and "Xing'an" forces, considered to be more reliable than the rest of the soldiers in Japan's auxiliary forces. Reconstituted into the 1st and 2nd Divisions respectively, the Xing'an were mostly comprised of cavalry units, while the 1st, made up the infantry component, including 2 infantry regiments (of mixed Manchu an Japanese character) as well as including artillery and signal units.

# Squad

For our purposes though, we'll be seeing them employed as an infantry unit, where much like the Type 99 rifle (long) squad we currently have in-game, these units would be seen fighting the Red Army in 1945 Manchuria as a 9-man Rifleman squad, meant to augment the numbers of Japanese forces on the frontline. Where in reality, most soldiers of the Manchukuo Imperial Army defected prior to the Soviet invasion, these Jing'an veterans, would stay true to the Emperor.

# Weapon

Their choice of armament would be the venerable **Liao Type 13 rifle**, named as such for being produced in the 13th year following the Chinese Revolution of 1911, in 1924.

Originally Mauser-pattern rifle manufactured namely for the Austro-Hungarian army, the Treaty of Saint-Germain, so-severely limited the size of the successor Austrian Army that Steyr couldn't afford to stay afloat with the paltry number of rifles they were allowed to produce, especially after heavy war-time investments in bolstering their productivity. To cover some of the loss, Steyr sold the rights to produce license-manufactured variants of Mauser-pattern rifles, taking some inspiration from the Mannlicher M1895 and Japanese Arisaka Type 38, leading to the development of the Mukden Arsenal Mauser, or "Mukden Mauser" colloquially.

The squad would be a prize for a 20k every 2 days event.
