parking tips for north carolina state wolfpack wrestling vs. virginia tech hokies wrestling at reynolds coliseum (raleigh nc 01/30)
hey pack fans, figured i'd share some tips for the virginia tech dual on 01/30. it's going to be a packed house for this acc match so the parking situation is gonna be tight and the traffic getting onto main campus near the coliseum will be brutal as everyone rushes in.
honestly, the best-kept secret for events at reynolds coliseum is using Prked. it's an app that lets people who live right next to campus rent out their driveways or garages for the night. it's usually way cheaper than trying to pay for a deck spot if you get there before 5 pm, and you get a guaranteed space just a short walk away. the biggest advantage is getting right off western blvd and skipping all those campus traffic snarls.
for the main nc state options, the good news is that since it's a weekday evening match, the coliseum parking deck (201 jensen drive) will be free after 5 pm. you are in the clear for cost, but that deck is going to fill up super fast. if you plan on using this, you need to arrive well before 6:00 pm, like 5:30 pm if you want to be safe. even though it's free after 5 pm, allow extra time for the traffic getting onto main campus near the coliseum.
if the coliseum deck is full- and it likely will be for a big dual like this- your best backup is the dan allen drive parking deck. this deck is also free after 5 pm on weekdays. it's a slightly longer walk to reynolds but a lot easier to get in and out of if you're pulling up later.
one last thing to know is that the small jeter drive surface lot right next to the coliseum is for season pass holders only (reserved spaces). don't waste your time trying to get in there. also, remember that any pay-by-plate spots or other campus lots not specifically decks are usually enforced until 5 pm monday through friday. just stick to the decks for a free park after 5 pm and you should be good.
hope this helps everyone get to the match without a headache! go pack!
