Am I Overreacting about my in-laws hating my daugther?

family feud

Hi!

First of all english is not my first language.

So my (f30) husband’s (m33) parentes have always been special. You know the kind of people that knows best. So I have just played along for the sake of piece.

Note: there have been arguments and they have not been kind to me but have accepted me for my husband’s sake. My husband have always supported me and been on my side.

Now to the big issue:

In our 11 years together we have been blessed with two amazing kids, a boy (age 7) and a girl (age 3). We love our children with all of our hearts. My in-laws love our son. They adore him. They give him everything he points at and has him over for sleep overs all the time.

Our little girl… not so much. They won’t buy anything for her. Don’t call or come to visit when it is her birthday. They won’t touch her. Keep saying she is annoying and spoiled. (She is not spoiled. We treat our kids the same)

They will hug our son and tell him he is the best in the world and give him candy or toys. But totally ignore our daugther. They won’t hug her or even look at her. (Keep in mind that we live in Sweden so this is not some kind of a sick culture issue)

My husband have tried talking to them multiple times that they can’t keep doing this. He has thretened to go no contact if they keep on doing this.

It pains my heart every time I have to watch my daugther’s heart break when they give her brother presents and her nothing.

I have told my friends that I am considering going to cut them out of MY and my DAUGTHER’S life. Although most of them agrees with me there are some that thinks I am overreacting.

Am I? This has been going on for 3 years! But I also know that cutting off will hurt our son.

Am I overreacting about wanting nothing to do with them?
