How do I know my baby is attached?
So I have a 7 month old baby, I love her so much but I’m having trouble recognising if she’s attached to me, Sorry if this is a long read.
Recently my baby’s started to be a bit more social. I live with my in-laws but my mil is super over bearing.. she does things I’m not comfortable with and it makes being a new mum difficult sometimes (She’s very helpful with housework and feeding my husband and I which I’m very grateful for)
For example, ever since she saw my baby she’s been just crazy obsessed with her to the point she would stare like a hawk when I first brought her home and actually told my husband she doesn’t care what he’s talking about because she’s looking at my baby… she was pretty nasty around my baby to other people when they would talk to her and just stare at my baby.
Being mean to people has stoped but staring at my baby and constantly calling her name continues, even if other people are interacting she interrupts and will try to put all attention onto her.
Anyways, now that my baby is older she has started to just try to get my mil attention if she’s in the same room as me and I can’t play with my baby anymore because she just wants to look at my mil and calls out to her.
She shows a huge level of enthusiasm when she sees my mil that she has never given me when I’ve been away from her and returned. She gets so excited to see her but it’s not the same with me - sometimes she doesn’t even care to acknowledge me when I return.
Tonight my mil picked her up (without asking) from her playpen and then when I tried to get my baby back she would just put her face into my mil and turn her back to me although then she would put her arm out to me but wouldn’t let me take her back she would just do the same thing and turn back into my mils arms.
It hurt that my baby wouldn’t come back to me.
I don’t understand why my baby doesn’t get excited to see me ect.
I’m her main carer and I don’t let grandma care for her although she had her a little bit when she was first born to around 2 months
Did I do the wrong thing by letting her be with grandma when she was little? Is it because the grandma won’t leave my baby alone and is obsessive?
