parking tips for the learning rodeo at mississippi coast coliseum (biloxi 01/30)

hey y’all, figured i’d share some tips for the learning rodeo on 01/30. since this is a 10:00 am start time and it’s right on highway 90, traffic and finding a decent spot without a nightmare exit is the biggest challenge, especially since other morning events have seen the coliseum lots fill up right around 10:00 am.

first, and this is a serious game changer if you can find a spot: check out Prked. it’s an app where folks in the neighborhood near the coliseum rent out their private driveways or empty garage spaces. honestly, it is typically way cheaper than buying a crazy prepaid pass from a ticket reseller, and the real secret is that you can snag a spot on a side street close by, do a short walk, and completely skip the highway 90 traffic jam waiting to get into the main coliseum entrance.

the official coliseum parking is available in their seven lots and the parking garage. the fee is $10 plus tax, and here’s a super important thing: it is completely cashless, so you absolutely need to have a credit or debit card ready. if you plan to use the venue lots, you need to arrive early to beat that 10:00 am event start time.

here's the major insider tip for the coliseum lots: the main gate off highway 90 (beach boulevard) is always a major bottleneck. you should try to use the entrance gates off beauvoir road instead; the venue itself says these entrances tend to flow much faster and save you a ton of time waiting in traffic.

speaking of traffic, expect heavy congestion on highway 90—the whole beach boulevard area is going to be slammed. general advice is to use alternate routes if you can, avoiding the beach boulevard bottleneck by taking i-110 north and using the exits for the promenade or other businesses further inland, then circling back.

alternative parking spots are another good strategy if the main lots are packed. if you're willing to walk a bit, you're right next to a bunch of casinos. check out the parking garages for nearby spots like treasure bay hotel & casino or hard rock hotel & casino biloxi. casino parking is often free or very cheap, and getting out of those lots and onto the secondary streets after the event can be much faster than trying to exit the main coliseum lots.

hope this helps everyone get in and out smoothly for the rodeo.
