My mom is upset I didnt tell her I was sick because she "deserves to know"

I (29F) had a bad flu last week. I took a few days off work, stayed home, rested, and recovered. I didnt tell my mom because why would I? Im an adult, I can handle being sick alone.

My dad mentioned to her that he saw on my Instagram story I was home sick (I posted a photo of soup with "sick day" caption). She called me absolutely furious that I didnt call her.

She said as my mother she has a "right to know" when im not feeling well. I said im almost 30 years old and can handle a flu without reporting it to my parents. She said it doesnt matter how old I am, she needs to be informed about my health.

I asked why she needs to know and she said "what if something serious happened and I didnt know you were sick?" I said nothing serious happened, it was just a flu, and I recovered fine.

She then said the "real issue" is that I put it on Instagram before telling her which means strangers knew before my own mother. I said my Instagram followers seeing a soup photo is not the same as a health update.

Now shes demanding I call her every time im sick, injured, or have a doctors appointment. She wants to be my emergency contact for everything and says its "abnormal" that I dont keep her updated on my health.

My friends think shes being ridiculous but am I wrong for not telling her?
