What to play after Vesperia?
Vesperia was my first and I finished it a little while back. Think I might be ready to try another soon. Vesperia was fine enough but I’m hoping for a better game this time. Here were my gripes to help with suggestions.
The combat was bad in my opinion because it took so so so long to open up. I don’t wanna play NG+ to make full use of the combat system. It felt solid enough right at the end of the game.
Side content was fun but I didn’t do much of it. It was impossible to know where to go and what to do without constantly checking a guide and I hate playing like that. My favorite example was Judith missing an arte because I didn’t sleep in the inn I literally just slept at for a narrative reason. I did giganto monsters because the quest giver was easy to find and actually told me generally where to find them all. Repede snowboarding was fun but I just stumbled upon it.
As for the characters I liked Yuri and Flynn a lot. Patty, Repede, Judith, and Raven were fun. Estelle gets a pass, and I don’t like Karol or Rita much.
The story was also something I didn’t care for. It was satisfying enough upon its conclusion. There some interesting ideas thrown around as well. But it’s not very well paced. One major villain in particular was not compelling at all.
Overall I feel Vesperia does a lot but it doesn’t do really do anything all that well. Like a jack of all trades type thing.
For my next game I’m not sure what to pick. I was gonna try Abyss for its story, but I’m hoping to hear about a remaster at some point. For platforms I’ve got a switch and a PC to play on. I’ve got access to graces f and symphonia for free. But I was also curious about Berseria and Arise
