Paperless-AI RAG, why not exposing it?

I feel like I'm missing something. I'm planning to deploy both paperless ngx and paperless-ai to my homelab, so I can use RAG from paperless-ai to talk with my documents. For me, the next logical step is to give this also to and automation platform, like n8n, but seems paperless-api doesn't expose API for that. If would be possible, I can automate something like a regular scan, once a month, to send me a report for the folder INVOICE. Due there is no this possibility, I need to give the same data folder to another RAG system and duplicate data, which is not cleary a good practise. I also noted the usually RAG system doesn't expose API, there is a reason for that?
