Working for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Cyprus
Hello everyone, I am thinking of applying to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Cyprus, when positions next open. Is anyone able to give (informed) advice on what it is like to work there? How is the culture different, if at all, from other ministries on the island? Is getting in less or more meso-based than other ministries?
I have heard the exams are difficult, but that it is possible to get in even without meso. How true is this? Or do they try and hire from the circle of elite upper middle class Cypriots? It seems that the majority of people who work there have law degrees. This makes sense given the Ministry's focus on stopping the legitimisation/recognition of the TRNC, and its legal approach to this goal.
Any advice would be appreciated. Anyone I speak to says its impossible to get in without meso, but maybe this is slightly defeatist...
