Not Sure What to Do After Walking Away on the First Day

I, (28 M) just walked away from my job as an English school teacher on the first day. I had no support at all, no orientation, not even a text-book. They just told me to teach and that admin will give me everything at a later date. It was hell on earth, I used to teach special needs kids for almost two years; however, the children at this school were even worse than them. The last straw was when they gave me a cane (a wooden rod) and told me to beat the children if needed. I was utterly disgusted.

For context, I have a BSc. in psychology and a CELTA. I used to teach special needs kids at a large school before I left. I fell into a depressive rut for almost three years and have recently begun therapy. This job was my opportunity to fill the gap in my CV, but I just couldn't do it.

My family says that I should have just stuck with it at least for 6 months, but I really felt like I could do better than that school. I'm considering switching my career path from teaching to something else. However, I have no idea what else I could even do.

Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you.
