I miss when I still believed in the Folklore
I have been an on and off fan of Taylor's for a while, since Fearless. I loved Red and even 1989, but stopped listening as I grew out of the songs. I didn't get back into her music until Folklore and Evermore, and as someone who loves indie music, I thought Taylor had grown and matured as an artist. I thought it was introspective, and it would lead to a new direction.
I admit I was wrong, but I don't feel vindictive or happy that I was wrong. I guess I miss how I felt about her music before learning the truth about everything.
I can't listen to "the 1" anymore without remembering it's probably about Matty, or "illicit affairs", or any of the Betty songs because they aren't fiction, they probably had some truth to them. I can't listen to "my tears richochet" because it's the basis of a court case. The whole album is ruined for me and I can't separate the art from the artist, because Taylor is not one of those musicians. She IS the art, and when you're disillusioned, the whole discography goes up in smoke.
Does anyone else miss that? Not the music itself, but being able to listen to it without it being tainted?
