How did American Idol get so bad?

I stopped watching when KP was still a judge. I knew I would absolutely never watch with CU. I was scrolling and paused on the premier out of boredom. It was when a young kid was actually praying at his audition. I am in no way throwing shade at someone for praying. BUT I found their need to air this portion during the premier show extraordinarily wrong on many levels. Is the show full-on MAGA now? The vibe sure seemed like it. All country (from the small bit I saw). Overall it was awful. CU has the personality of a turnip, LB is a bit too goofy, although he DOES have a personality at least. LR seemed like he didn’t want to be there.
