What's it called when people act like your problem would never happen to them?
I'm seeing it all the time now... Whether I open up to someone I trust about a problem or I mention something in passing because it's relevant.
First off they question me, not to see if I'm ok, but as if to test the validity of a claim, or to prove to themselves it wouldn't happen to them...
Next when I pass all the test questions, they decide I didn't do something right.
IE: I'm having car issues
Me: joke about it because I came in the front instead of the garage to work.
Person: Oh ya, it's difficult to pick the right car when you lack car knowledge... did you xyz?
Me: Yes I did (awkward as this wasn't remotely supposed to be a conversation)
Person: Oh you probably didn't (obvious thing that I obviously did because it's obvious)
Me: Yes I did
Person: -winks- of course you did
----
Or they're more obvious and straight up say 'they wouldn't happen to me', like they're somehow above things like flat tires?
---- the first thing the comes to mind is that they're assuming I'm incompetent, but I'm not sure if there's a specific work for this.
