Some woman demanded I give up my seat on the train because she wanted to sit with her friend..

I was on a crowded train yesterday heading home from work. I got on early enough to snag a window seat which I prefer. The train filled up and this woman got on with her friend.

There were two empty seats but they werent next to each other. The womans friend sat in one and the woman stood next to my seat. She tapped my shoulder and asked if I could move so she could sit with her friend.

I said no, sorry, I got here early specifically to get this seat. She said "its just one seat, whats the big deal?" I said the big deal is I want to sit here.

She got huffy and said "some people are so selfish" loud enough for people around to hear. Her friend told her to just sit in the other empty seat but she refused saying she "needs to sit with someone."

She stood in the aisle for the whole 30 minute ride shooting me dirty looks. Every few minutes shed make passive aggressive comments like "must be nice to be so comfortable while others stand" even though there WAS an empty seat she just refused to take it.

When we got to my stop and I stood up she said "FINALLY" really sarcastically. I said "there was an empty seat the whole time" and she said "not next to my friend!"

Why is it my problem she wants to chat with her friend? Take the empty seat or stand, dont harass me about it. Right??
