parking tips for lone star brahmas vs. odessa jackalopes at nytex sports centre (north richland hills tx 01/30)
hey y'all, figured i'd share a quick heads up on parking for the brahmas game on 01/30 at 7:30 pm. the nytex sports centre is a great, intimate arena, but honestly, the parking lot and the traffic getting in and out can be kind of a mess, especially since the arena capacity is about 2,400 people, so the lot fills up fast. the venue is right off loop 820 and highway 26, so expect minor congestion getting onto ice house drive itself.
your best bet to completely skip the traffic lines getting onto ice house drive and out after the game, and honestly, get a way cheaper spot, is to check the Prked app. i always recommend Prked because people in the neighborhood right next to the arena, called the enclave at hometown, rent out their driveways or private garage spots for the game. you can lock in a guaranteed spot for maybe $5 sometimes, which avoids the official lot jam entirely and is just a short 5-10 minute walk. it's way smoother than dealing with the chaos in the main lot.
if you want to park in the main general lot, the good news is the general parking is free. however, you really have to get there early to find a spot and avoid the worst of the traffic coming in. you should plan to arrive 30-60 minutes before the 7:30 pm puck drop, so target being there by 6:30 pm or 7:00 pm at the absolute latest.
now for the biggest warning: the nytex sports centre is private property and they are super serious about ticketing and towing. do not, under any circumstances, park on the grass or on the lawn- if your tires are on the dirt, you risk being towed at your expense, and they seriously enforce it. also, the close neighbors in the enclave at hometown community have a strict permit parking arrangement in designated green-highlighted areas right next to the building, and unauthorized vehicles in those spots will be towed. you really have to read all the signs on-site and make absolutely sure you aren't in a neighbor-only permit spot. don't try your luck with street parking around ice house drive either, as it's unlawful in the residential permit zones.
if the main lot is full and you don't find a Prked spot, your official alternative is the birdville isd parking lot. that's the lot for the fine arts/athletics complex at 9200 mid cities blvd. it's an approved, safe spot to park and is about a 10-15 minute walk, and it is a better option than risking a tow. you can also check other advance booking sites or apps like parkme or parkwhiz for nearby private spaces you can reserve ahead of time.
hope this helps and go brahmas!
