Got scammed by the credit points text. Need advice
Basic summary: My parents fell for the "You have this credit points today expiring claim now" type of scam. They entered their eastwest account number and after that got a charge in their account in euros amounting to about half a million pesos. The bank is trying to hold them liable and making them pay. However, they talked to someone in the cybercrime division and asked for help. The cybercrime division assured them that they would handle it and that they wouldn't need to pay the bank but it will take some time to find those liable (the scammers). We didn't lose any money because it is a credit card however we might need to pay the amount taken
My parents assured me that they were assured by the police that they wouldn't need to pay for anything and that they should ignore the bank if they tried to make them pay. However, I'm a bit worried if that is truly the case. I need your advice whether I should worry and if possible help. Thank you very much.
