I need help

So my parcel has been in the uk for a week now and has been sitting at the depot without any delivery or order updates. I contacted royal mail and parcel force and now they are saying because of the time frame my parcel is now classes as lost and the sender would need to submit a claim. How would I do this and will I ever receive the parcel?
