parking tips for utah grizzlies vs. greenville swamp rabbits at maverik center (west valley city 01/30)

hey grizzlies fans, figured i'd share some parking and traffic advice for the game on 01/30. honestly, parking at the maverik center itself is fine for space but leaving after the game is a genuine nightmare for traffic, it backs up completely. you can skip all that headache right away.

my number one piece of insider advice is to try Prked. it's an app where people rent out their driveways or private garage spots, and since the maverik center is right by a residential area, you can often find a spot that's way cheaper than a lot fee (if they charge for this event) and only a very short walk. the best part is you get to a side street and totally bypass the main lot gridlock on decker lake drive.

if you stick to the official lots, which are a, b, c, and lot d (near 3100 south and decker lake drive), it is generally free for grizzlies games, which is nice, but always check to make sure. for the fastest exit, don't park in the main lots a, b, or c. park in lot d or the lot directly east of the main center. the tip here is that lot d has way fewer cars, and it's much easier to get out heading north onto decker lake boulevard. when you leave, avoid the line trying to turn right onto the highway exit ramp-that's the worst line. instead, go left or straight at the light and use the side streets to loop back to the freeway.

another great option to avoid traffic altogether is the trax green line. the decker lake station is right next to the arena, so you can park at another station and ride in. this is honestly the most convenient if you want to skip the traffic jam entirely.

if you are looking for free street parking, just be super careful about west valley city's rules, especially in january. you cannot park on the street if there is one inch or more of snow accumulated, so watch the weather forecast for 01/30. also, don't park too close to things or you'll get a ticket: stay 5 feet away from driveways, 15 feet from fire hydrants, and 20 feet from crosswalks. some people risk parking in nearby business lots on 3500 south, but only do this if you know they are closed for the night, and you accept the risk of towing or a ticket.

i hope this helps you get to the game and, more importantly, get home quickly! go grizzlies!
