Beginning to find long time friends irritating?
This could just be familiarity, we have a solid group of friends and we hangout almost every weekend. We've certainly had some really enjoyable times over the passed few years especially.
However, recently a particular friend, has been getting on my nerves. I almost feel bad writing it, but I'm being true to how I feel. It's not that he's saying, a bad person or something, I think everyone has their faults and quirks that can get annoying.
It's just recently I've been feeling it more often. It could be in part a personality clash, despite having been friends since literally we were little kids, now we'll into our adult years. What I mean is about a personality clash, is I'm more of an introvert and he's quite extrovert. While he's not exactly doing anything 'wrong', I've recently been feeling more irritated by at least what I perceive as at times behaving too passionately for my liking, talking loudly non stop, we hangout at the saunas every so often and I find he talks too loudly about personal affairs, almost like he's trying to show off to the other people there, letting everyone knyhis business. I find he makes too much fuss about food, always offering me to try this and that, sometimes asking several times after me saying no, always asking if I want to try his food at restaurants, when he knows I don't like sharing food from the same utensils, maybe a little quirk of mine, but it is what it is. Maybe in just being mean in my own way, but even his loud explanation of 'HhMmMm!!, wow this is good' every time we eat, just gets on my nerves somehow.
Also don't always appreciate his jokes, I feel like certain jokes I only see coming my way. I feel like this is because I'm somewhat oneonfthe quiet guys at times, seen as an easy target so to speak. A recent example I was with him and a few others, they were talking about their sex life, but if a personal detail here, but I've not really had a girlfriend before, which is my own thing to deal with no problem. At the end of their conversation, he then said '(insert my name here) is going to call the hookers now'. This did get to me but I remained silent and didn't respond. It was a deliberate humiliation attempt, relating to a very personal and deep aspect of my life and I felt he wltook the 'jokes' too far at that point. While I certainly am not seeking pity from friends about this, I didn't like in principle that him knowing I've not exactly had much experience with women, to then boast of his sexual escapades followed by a joke at my expense, relating to a tether sensitive matter of my life.
I've sometimes had the drastic thought of stepping away from this group of friends, there are some other factors, the truth is im very different to them in terms of opinions on certain things, movie tastes, music tastes and so on. Were friends because we've known eachother since being little kids. Alternatively, there can be some value imo to NOT seeing friends so frequently, I have subtly hinted at this, but I don't think they get it or feel the same.
