Solo Trip | Safety

Hi all!

I'm headed to Rome for a solo trip for my birthday this February and I'm wondering if there are any solo travellers in here that could tell me how they found the city safety wise?

Largest thing I'm concerned about is pick pocketing honestly!

I'm a native Londoner so I imagine the safety is pretty similar?

I'm also Italian but have never really learned the language fully - Italian is understandable to me, I have conversational Italian down, but i imagine the Roman dialect is very different from the small town in Puglia where my Dad is from.

I guess, at the end of the day, I'm asking for any horror stories to learn from/ tips and tricks to be safe that might not have crossed my mind.
