My take on these Re-9 Leon Haters

General

Leon in Re9's intro, cutscenes and gameplay is the same as before. Spoiler - Stop reading here and watch the Re9 trailer already, thats what I'm going to reference.

So in Re2/DSC/4/6 and now 9 + degeneration/damnation/vendetta/death island we get A LOT of Leon content. In 2 he's traumatized, getting introduced to the world of mass-casualties and tons of death through zombies and tragedy. In 4 he's a trained operative and a bit of a seasoned vet. He's already a badass but still the hero. He's actively trying to save anyone he can between the cops, ashley, and greives over mike/luis/etc. In 6 we see him actively trying to save hopeless people, even including trying to save infected individuals which bites him in the ass. In the elevator, then in the parking lot watching the guys with the signs he tells helena to come help him save them while they're 13 floors above him and he'd never get there. He's still delusionally hopeful protagonist. Now in Re9 he's in the hospital and the nurse comes in, tells him what she knows and she turns around to see the doctor who instantly guts her. Leon's give less than 3 seconds to line up a shot and save the nurse and the zombie-doctor-bow thingy is LOSing him and he can't get a shot off before she's killed.

Many bring up how he doesn't care about "the people he's killed" by releasing the bow in the cathedral, or the airplane, or whatever else nonsense you want to come up with. The fact is he's NOT responsible for these BoWs killing people. Just because he opens a door where some zombies are doesn't mean he's the one who made those zombies. He's the cop responding to the crime and fighting the criminal who's actively eating/gunning down regular people, and now we're blaming him for not being fast enough. Lets not make this political, but Democrat or Republican, you should still feel sorrow when you have to watch combat take place between your fellow countrymen and recent events in the states are a tragedy. How many of you are happy to see federal officers gun down civilians, innocent or not, because their duty required them to? Leon is still acting as he should and is still expected to respond to crime and threats, not proactively preventing them. If Leon just shoots the doctor because he looks funny or sick and it's revealed the doctor was coming to her for help and aid then Leon would be a worse character and quite frankly just wouldn't be Leon.

Leon did his job, the cutscene is delivered well, and claiming he did nothing because the events unfolded in less than a few seconds is a terrible take. Re9 is hype af and I'm excited to buy it immediately on
