Struggling to get band 7+ in IELTS Speaking? Here’s what actually helped me in 2 weeks

My Advice

Hey everyone!

I was stuck around 6–6.5 in IELTS Speaking for weeks. Totally frustrating, right? After trying a few strategies, I managed to push my band to 7+ in just 2 weeks.

Here’s what helped me the most:

  • Record yourself daily: Even 5–10 mins on random topics. Listening back helps spot filler words and grammar mistakes.
  • Fluency over perfection: Speak naturally, don’t pause obsessing over perfect grammar. Examiners care more about flow.
  • Use a few ready phrases: “That’s an interesting question…” or “I’ve had a similar experience…” help you sound confident.
  • Speak aloud, don’t just think: Practice talking, not just imagining answers.
  • Simulate test conditions: Answer consecutively, time yourself, no looking up words online.

I’m curious—what tricks or routines worked for you to improve speaking scores quickly? Would love to hear your experiences!
