One thing most app monitoring tools don’t help with: knowing which bugs actually matter
Something we’ve noticed working with mobile teams:
Most monitoring tools are great at collecting data - crashes, logs, metrics, alerts.
But they rarely help answer a more practical dev question:
“Which issue should I fix first?”
Teams often end up with:
- Hundreds of crash logs with no clear priority
- Performance issues (ANRs, hangs, memory leaks) that don’t crash but quietly hurt UX
- QA reports, prod logs, and business metrics living in separate tools
So devs spend time reproducing issues or fixing low-impact bugs while high-impact ones sit unnoticed.
One approach that’s proven useful in practice:
- Looking at issues in the context of actual user journeys, not isolated errors
- Prioritizing bugs based on how many users they affect, not just how often they occur
- Treating performance degradation (ANRs, hangs, memory pressure) with the same urgency as crashes
This shifts the focus from “what failed technically” to “what broke the user experience.”
Curious how others handle this:
- How do you decide what bug to fix first?
- Do you rely on crash volume, user reports, business impact, or gut instinct?
Would love to hear how different teams approach this.
