In defense of Mina Sue
Okay let’s examine where it went off the rails for her. She came in, gave a strong first impression. She looked gorgeous in that yellow dress, immediately got the attention of 3 guys. Everything was going well until she got back from paradise and we got to that photoshoot. She was thrown off by Su-been getting chosen. In that moment of panic, her mind went blank, she couldn’t think of anyone else to choose. She tried to choose Seung-il but he had been chosen. It’s TV, she froze, it happens. I don’t think she was being rude or disrespectful or anything.
There is this perception that she’s a hypocrite since it’s okay for her to play the field and not the same for Su-been. I think for her it just felt that ever since they came back from paradise, he hasn’t bothered to show her any attention at all. Yes, this isn’t Su-been’s fault, but she doesn’t know that. She’s not saying u can’t spend time with someone else, but she was hoping for a bit more attention from him. He gave crickets. We know how he feels because of the confessionals but she doesn’t. She approached him to clear the air and was fairly honest but he was pissed at the circumstances of the truth game.
After this, i did feel that he went out of his way to be mean to her and purposefully show more interest to Hee-sun. Maybe he really likes Hee-sun, I don’t know but it felt deliberate and calculative. Imagine a guy u’re so into become so cold to you and shower another girl with all this affection - it gets to u whether u want it to or not. Even Sam said he felt so sorry for her when they saw Su-been cavorting about with Hee-sun. She was having a “pity me”/in her feelings moment cos Su-been knew she was not well but did not bother at all to ask her anything.
I don’t know it was just really raw and honest. Yeah it doesn’t make her likeable but I felt her reaction was really human. She hasn’t been nasty to Su-been despite the rude way he’s been speaking to her.
