AIO that my boss wants me to come in after we got a ton of snow/ice?

Some backstory/context: I work in childcare, I’m the lead infant teacher at the center I’m employed at and I usually close everytime I work. We get our schedule every Friday evening, and can also see most of everyone else’s times they are working for the week. (My boss does not have the time’s she’s coming in on there though… this will be slightly relevant later)

We fortunately had off yesterday (Monday, January 26). I say fortunately because it would have been completely unsafe to drive after the winter storm that came through. I live in Delaware and we were in a state of emergency and also had a driving restriction. I know a lot of people are dealing with the aftermath of this winter storm and the amounts of snow and/or ice are different for everyone.

I live with my boyfriend, his parents, and his sister. My boyfriend and I usually park on the street, but for the storm we had to park in the driveway and put his sister’s car in the garage. We live in a neighborhood, in a decent sized house, but the driveway is not necessarily big enough for 4 cars. My boyfriend and his dad spent a good chunk of time shoveling and salting the driveway yesterday. They both messed up their backs because it wasn’t only 10+ inches of snow they were shoveling, there was also ice on top of it, so it was heavy.

Now maybe we could have parked the cars differently (but his dad wanted them a specific way and it had to be done his way lol). My car is in front of my boyfriend’s parent’s cars, so they’re blocking me from getting out. We tried everything we could yesterday to move/get the cars out, but it just didn’t happen.

It’s currently 8am, and I’m a little irritated with my boss because I feel like she expects me to wake everyone up and shovel or do whatever to the driveway. I let her know yesterday around 5pm that I probably wouldn’t be able to come in. (I’m going to include a few screenshots of our texts in the comments). I just don’t really know what to say to her at this point. Don’t get me wrong, I love my job and I love my babies that I take care of (and I also love making money lol), but I just feel like it’s not really fair for her to expect me to come in after I’ve explained the situation to her. On top of not being able to get out of the driveway right now, the neighborhood was not plowed very well and I’m not sure what the actual roads even look like because none of us have gone anywhere since Saturday. This winter storm has just made things frustrating and inconvenient.

So, AIO for being frustrated with my boss for expecting me to come in after telling her I’m stuck in my driveway?
