Help with toppers for someone who doesn’t know much please :(

Recommendations

I need help choosing a topper.

I used to really love the tempurpedic serenity 3” one at Costco. But it seems they’ve totally changed it up as the foam is different and look and color while still being the “serenity”. It sucks and is not the same at all and this is like a 1-1.5 year gap of buying one and then trying to buy it again for a different bed. This new reformulated one sleeps HOT, and sinks too much to where you’re fighting just to get in bed and out of it. I also normally sleep with a thin blanket so I know it’s not my room temp or anything. 3” also makes me hate my mattress because it just feels TOO tall to where I’ll need a step to comfortably get into it.

I am about 125-130lbs and 5’5 (on a good day lol) and would love to know what affordable topper I could get $200 and below that is best for someone with widespread body pain. My neck, shoulders, back, spine, all of it. I always have wicked insomnia so I am always tossing and turning. I tend to lay on my stomach a lot, sometimes side? If you want to call the weird positions I put myself in that. I get overheated most of the time.

I also have trouble understanding what the difference in thickness makes for a topper. And also materials of the topper. Or if the mattress underneath it needs to be really firm for a topper to feel good or the mattress thickness itself.

I find myself hating how thick mattresses are nowadays because it makes it a hassle to move or put sheets/protectors on, but also, just hate how tall everything feels. If someone could help me, it would be awesome. I’m not very experienced in toppers and mattresses besides buying one from Amazon before, Costco, and then Temu believe it or not lol (it was cheap). I feel like no mattresses I’ve had have ever been comfortable for me (besides the first serenity topper that was added to a thin firm bed). I used to prefer sleeping on my couch rather than my bed because I felt like there was only two ways I could sleep and the restriction and coziness made it easier to fall asleep.

I do feel like I tend to like plush soft mattresses better than medium or firm (even though medium and firm is supposed to be better for body pain I think?)

Thank you to whoever takes the time to read my adhd ramblings and I hope someone helps me find something. I’m too poor to buy a whole fricken mattress. 😮‍💨
