If you use a combination of an APU (integrated graphics CPU) and a separate GPU, will it boost graphics?

I'm not the most knowledgeable on how PC components work together, as you can probably tell, but if you were to have an APU such as a Ryzen Ryzen 7 5700G and paired it with a NVIDIA RTX 3070 Twin Edge 8GB, would that boost performance or not really?
