What is your relationship with travelling?
I have recently started to travel! I'd love to understand what relationship other ENFPs have with travelling -
Much like any ENFPs, I have a special place in my heart for spontaneity, being open to possibilities etc. However I have been feeling unplanned travel has started to lead to subpar experiences.
Getting stuck in traffic, having to do research while at the place, not ending up at great places, only doing food tourism, overspending. These are the most common outcomes.
I have changed sides to being a trip planner now. I do the following homework -
-
Crowd source suggestions for that city from Insta Stories about food, parks, and in general things to do
-
Research some guided walks in that city
-
Reading books related to that city to get a sense of each area.
What I look for?
- I want to maximise my chance of having deeper experiences with the locals and make friends.
- I want to collect talking points I can have about that city. But that also differs. Sometimes you visit a city and the talking points are academic, sometimes its about the eccentricities of that city, or its significance in the picture of the world etc.
- Delicious food
- I also try to retain some parts of my routine - like working out in the hotel (I never do), take my supplements (I do), skincare (I do irregularly)
I also like to break away from my group every third day otherwise I get super annoyed by them
So here are my questions to fellow ENFPs-
- What is your travel prep like?
- What is your relationship with travelling? What do you get out of it?
- How much is too much?
