Italy bound

Hi - new here - My husband and I travel to Italy usually every year - this year we are planning to be in Palermo for a week or two and explore more Sicily, then off to Rome (as a home base) Looking to make friends! We'll be in Rome for a bit, then explore more Italy - any ideas on where we should go? I hear Puglia has a good gay population.

We currently live in Palm Springs, CA and will probably be in Italy 60-90 days this fall.
