"Is Hytale The Minecraft Killer?" Is a fundamentally flawed question

People keep asking "is hytale the Minecraft killer" and I think this is a fundamentally wrong question because Minecraft killer Minecraft, most of us were just waiting for something else to fill it's place.

I know many still play Minecraft so it's not like it's "dead" but for a long time I think a lot of people have been desperately waiting for Mojang to wake up and actually do something with MC that's new and exciting and they simply won't. So when something comes along which is essentially Minecraft but new and interesting, it was a forgone conclusion that it would be a success.

I am genuinely interested to see if hytale is a wake up call to Microsoft, because I would honestly love to see them actually try to innovate or hell, announce a real Minecraft 2. but jebs comment of "I'd rather play Minecraft" makes me think not. And even if they wanted to, I feel the "indie energy " of hypixel will always produce an more compelling game than the mega orp Microsoft can make.
