Question regarding erasmus in romania - HELP

Hello everyone! I'm a moroccan studying in czechia for my masters degree. I considered studying at UAIC in laşi because quite frankly the city looked nice and thought that it wouldn't be a bad erasmus destination.

Now when I mentioned that to my friends they really made me second guess myself and they js started laughing/telling me why pick romania over Germany and other countries, and to me personally I'm just looking for a nice and interesting study destination that's also relatively cheap, I'm guessing they just see it as a downgrade.

Also, how's safety? Is it like the memes should I be worried?
