Possible hypercalcemia?
Hey guys - 30M reporting here!
For the last 6 or so months I've been experiencing weird symptoms that are hard to explain, on and off. The most prominent one is ectopic heartbeats (PVC) that has been ruled by two cardiologists as benign (phew). However, I still keep getting them, and sometimes hundreds upon hundreds a day. Sleep is also something that has been affected a lot, I struggle to sleep and stay asleep, even if I'm clearly tired. Not something that used to be an issue.
Another thing I've noticed is the feeling of slight nausea in the morning, plus somewhat loss of appetite , even though I haven't lost any significant weight. I also keep peeing a lot, maybe 12 times a day, and sometimes I wake up at night peeing 2-3 times, even though I've simply had a cup of coffee and some water during the day, I'm not exactly chugging liters here, so it's a bit strange. Weird fleeting body aches are also present.
So eventually I was like, what's up? Surely this can't be the new norm, so I went to doc a couple of days ago and drew blood. All tests were fine, kidney numbers were good, but I had slightly elevated Hemoglobin (17.2 gl/dl) and high serum calcium (2.57 mmol/L / 10.3 mg/Dl). Magnesium was also a bit on the low side, but within reference range (0.79 mmol/L). Doc was pretty chill and basically concluded with everything is alright + maybe it's some anxiety going on. I'm not too sure about that anxiety theory, I feel it's a very easy blanket statement to present when nothing is alarmingly out of range. Personally, I feel pretty releaxed, but the recent symptoms obviously cause some anxiety and concern that something is out of whack.
That's when I stumbled across this community and saw people's experience with high calcium, and it seems it's highly individual basically. What do you guys think? Is this something I should pursue further with doc, and if so, how should I angle it? She basically assumes this is anxiety and suggested beta blockers, but I'm not too keen...
Thanks.
