Is my boyfriend making my trauma worse?
Hi everyone I am 24 F and have a boyfriend who is 24. We have been together for two years, I have tried to explain my trauma to him and he doesn’t understand, but anytime we get into arguments he brings up how he has “accommodated” to my “anxiety” for the past two years it’s not just anxiety. Any who I’ve felt like a third wheel in my entire relationship because he has a very enmeshed relationship with his dad and when I try to ask him for quality time together just one day out of his weekend where he works all the time he gets angry and says “it’s always something”. I feel as if I can never have an opinion, his dad has interrupted our date nights and plans several times and he has no boundaries with him at all. There was a time I just had a back surgery and I couldn’t do much and he wanted to go fishing so I went and I couldn’t make it to where he wanted to go which was far and I would’ve fell and hit my back. I told him to go on and I’ll just stand right here. I wanted us to be close enough where I could talk to him. I didn’t think it’d be a problem and he got mad and told me “ I feel like a GD kid, I have to have my head up your ass. This is the last time we’re going fishing together.” He made me cry. But yet his dad later on came to interrupt and they stood side by side fishing together and laughing. Then they both left me for an hour with his dad’s friend and disappeared on the riverbank. I don’t feel chosen, he has let his grandmother say very hurtful things to me and will hardly ever defend me and says he gets tired of hearing it from both sides when all I said is “ I have been nothing but good to her and your family I don’t understand why she doesn’t like me. I try.” He tries to play off some of the stuff as a joke. Every weekend he has to go to his grandparents house and I don’t care that’s up to him, but every time I go with him he just runs off and talks with his dad the whole duration so I’m sitting in another room alone. I’ve tried to address these issues but I am always the problem when I try to find a solution. He says he has done everything I’ve wanted to do which is false I have begged and begged him. He recently got upset with me because I wanted us to spend time together on Saturday because he was going to see his family the next day. His dad texted and said he wanted us to go four wheeling in the snow 20 mins away at their house at like 10 or 11 at night and I just said “ do we have to tonight? Maybe tomorrow?” We were going to his grandparents the next day so I didn’t think it’d be a big deal. He got mad and said don’t worry I told him we’re not coming. I just don’t know what to do anymore he tells his dad stuff we talk about I’m arguments and then his dad will indirectly use them against me as a joke. They think my trauma is funny and think I can just “get over it.” When it’s not that easy. I try my best to be a great girlfriend, but I have lost all confidence in myself and I feel like such a burden in my relationship because I just ask for one day of his time to go eat and he isn’t interested because it’s not his idea of fun when I do everything he wants even if I don’t like it because he enjoys it and I just enjoy being with him. But he says “We’re together 24/7.” which might be true, I’ve tried to give him space and then he thinks I’m cheating. I try to be with him and then he says we’re together too much. I only see him 2 hours a day through the week so the weekend is the only time I truly spend with him. My anxiety is horrible I don’t want to be around his dad and grandma sometimes. I just don’t know what to do I’ve compromised and done everything he wants and he still gets upset. I just learned not to say anything because it’s better than him getting mad. Am I crazy?
