Fantasy featuring reluctant hero with a timid to vengeful arc

I’m looking for fantasy novels where the protagonist starts out timid, unsure, or even weak and then becomes badass, vengeful, and/or jaded. Bonus points for the following: 1. Female MC 2. They also become self destructive as a result of the events that change them. 3. The book came out in the last 5 years.
