Do you have to sit with/near your puppy while they eat?

Our mini schnauzer is 11 weeks old with the attention span of a gnat and ALL the love for being with the humans. He would happily starve to death if it meant following me around the house all day and consumes zero food unless I sit on the floor next to him or in a chair next to his bowl. The moment I stand up to move and go anything my little sidekick is off on the adventure with me.

Anyone else?
