Do I need to change my diet to build muscle while I loose weight?
Hello! I have been making some changes to my lifestyle for a little while and one of those changes was incorporating a calorie deficit focused on Whole Foods to promote weight loss.
About a week ago I started add some heavy weight workouts in hopes to tone up/ build some muscle as I loose weight. I’ve done quite a bit of research, but the amount of information out there is overwhelming.
My big question is about nutrition. I know you need to eat a lot to build muscle, but I wasn’t sure if the amount of calories consumed or protein mattered more. On a daily average I eat 1600 to 1700 calories with 90-110 grams of protein, 25-35 grams of fiber, and under 160 grams of carbs. Currently I am 5’10” and 190 lbs. I do cardio 5 days a week and walk at least 10,000 steps a day on top of the 3 weekly weightlifting sessions.
Thanks in advance!
