From the latest Savant Pathway reveal, we were shown this specific entry regarding its Sequence 4 ability:

•Transmutation is the core of the Alchemist. With high-sequence materials, they can even manufacture items capable of countering Angels.

Now, does this mean that a Sequence 4: Alchemist can fight angels on the same weight class or on the same even playing field?

Let's find out shall we?

To begin, some might argue that they can indeed fight angels citing a certain factoid where it's possible to go against Sequence 2 angels using pure technology.

That said, just because it's possible to go against Them doesn't mean you'd necessarily be victorious. Or that you'd might survive.

Even angels have no assurance of Their victory or survival when going against fellow angels of the same level.

The likely interpretation would be that the height of power regarding methods involving the use of ONLY technology poses a threat to Sequence 2 angels.

Not that They'd automatically lose but that They'd be hurt if They'd take these technology attacks to the face.

Indeed, it emphasizes this point by saying that beyond Sequence 2, it is no longer possible for pure technology to pose a threat. Some mysticism or Beyonder power will have to be involved.

With that out of the way, is it really possible for a Sequence 4: Alchemist, if they do involve Beyonder powers, to fight an angel on even footing?

Yes.

But actually No.

While they can indeed fight angels as a Sequence 4. It necessitates the use of high-sequence materials to counter an angel level existence.

Notice that the word used is "counter".

Why is this significant?

It's because the likely scenario closer to the truth is that given the right high-sequence characteristics, they can fight and counter an angel whose Pathway is vulnerable to the high-sequence characteristics used.

This is reasonable because Savants are adept at modifying and even elevating the power of the Sealed Artifacts they create.

And if they used those upscaled Artifacts to go against the right target, then they'd have a decent chance at winning even if that target happens to be at an Angel level.

It also means to say that if they bring the wrong upscaled tool to a fight, even if they're facing a Sequence 2: Weather Warlock, then they'd certainly lose.

If this isn't the case, and that even at Sequence 4, Savants can indeed overpower any Angel, then we must all prepare to concede and accept the fact that by a significantly large margin, the Savant Pathway is the strongest Pathway period.
