Trencher for tree and shrub planting?

Anyone ever use a trencher for tree and shrub planting? I have a small landscape business and have been planting a few hundred trees and shrubs the last few years using a Root Slayer shovel. Very effective but also time consuming and exhausting to dig. I'm a few years away from buying major equipment and I know a small tractor with a small backhoe is probably ideal. But I'm thinking of renting a Home Depot trencher for a shrub hedge project I have in the spring, some 75 Elderberries 3 feet tall, spaced 4 feet apart. Less than $200 for a day and I don't need a continuous trench​. Thoughts on a trencher. Not a fan of onr man post hole diggers for planting.
