starting out with cameras
Hi,
I currently run a home security set up for my parents house, three cameras DIY server with 'motionEye' (opensource cam software) - It's great for showing the cam feeds, utter rubbish at motion detection. Two cams are wired ethernet indoors, one is outdoor wireless.
Was thinking about going to Ubiquity - seems more robust, scalable and fiddly.
What do I need ? Just want to make sure I have this correct:
- A cloudKey plus - will want 3 cams, space to go to 5/6 if ever needed. I think 3 days is plenty.
- A PoE switch with 8 PoE ports.
- So I hook the CloudKey to the Switch and the Switch to my own ASUS router ( than handles the regular IT things in house )?
- Then run PoE cable to the cams?
All this came to <€900, this sounds about right ? Anything I'm not considering ? Ideally I would like to be able to log in and see something happened at 2:45 have a look, or me just want to see what that noise was at 4:46am but perhaps nothing triggered it - can it do that ? Motion EYE only triggers when detection and it can be very random.
