Headphones (1) questions

I kinda want to buy a pair of over-the-ear headphones, and since my CMF buds pro 2s have been fine, I was thinking about buying the headphones (1). Then I saw the community post about the firmware nuking the sound that was already hard to get right.

Is it really that bad? Should I look into XM6s? Maybe wait for potential headphones (2) or (a)?

If it helps, I listen to mostly Rush with a little electronic (tanger, f777) and I don't see my taste changing for a good while
