Grandiose narcissism from a dirtbag to you
# A sub asked me an interesting question the other day:
> "How can you prove you're better than me?"
A pissing contest ensued, but at the end of the day, the zesty fuck had failed to account for one thing: he didn't actually think very highly of himself to begin with, so all of his arguments were based on comparison, rather than excellence or merit.
This will be a long post - I enjoy the privilege of conceit (ha), and I think every sub wants a dom(me) with the energy of a grandiose narcissist, but most fall short in cultivating it, because they have no reason to believe they are truly the Best Person. So, how do you get there? How do you earn merit?
-
If you lack a distinct genetic advantage, and are not multiply gifted, best to forget about it, I can't empathize.
-
Narcissism and grandiosity are not mutually exclusive. We are all always comparing ourselves to other people, but grandiose narcissists choose to make up their own rules about that game. A fragile and insecure narcissist might see another person and think: "He's physically perfect... but I bet he's got nothing going on upstairs" as a way to try to couch the pain via downward comparison, and rush to save face. A grandiose narcissist goes around it completely; "He's physically perfect, but he is also not Me."
-
A grandiose narcissist also makes up their own rules about self-perfection. They become "more perfect" each day, and are often in competition with past versions of themselves. Grandiosity is where the genetic advantage becomes necessary - you have to be able to choose multiple disciplines, according to your values, and become very skilled in each. Mine are fighting, science, languages, and music. Together, they are my nobility path.
-
You must use these disciplines as a way to "test" that superiority for yourself and others, and as a way to make that superiority manifest - this is what sets you apart from insecure narcissists. For instance, training to be a fighter instead of a lifter makes your body stronger, but it also demolishes your ego, and eventually proves your dominance in concrete ways. As for my own values - how could I believe I'm superior if common men can rattle or intimidate me, or fold me over like a lawnchair on a whim? Always move towards the version of yourself that can trounce and humiliate the version that exists right now according to, again, personal values.
I wish you all a very healthy dose of main character syndrome, may your failures be the gale beneath your wings.
