I want to turn of iCloud sync but

I want to turn off iCloud sync on my iPad, because it’s 90% full of screenshots that I don’t necessarily want in my camera roll on my phone, BUT if I turn off photo sync on my iPad, will the photos still backup on the iPad somehow?
