Suggestions for migraines prevention/relief.
Hi yall! My son has been getting migraines since he was 2. I've read they're common in autistic children. We didn't know what it was back then, but he'd get still, fall asleep, and vomit if you tried to wake him up. After sleeping 2 hour, he'd wake up fine, happy, and hungry.
At first we thought he was sick possibly, but at 5 he was able to say "head" and lead my hand to his head. We put it together that he covers his eyes during the episodes and is possibly having migraines. I get them too. They happen randomly. Sometimes a few episodes a month, other times he can go for months without one. He's non-conversational, so he can't respond to questions, so that's all the information we have.
His pediatrician is aware and said medications down the road are an option if they get worse. But, he had one tonight and it broke my heart.
Does anyone have any suggestions for supplements/powders/anything that might help prevent and give him some relief during the migraine episodes? I plan to bring it up again during his next pediatrician appointment, but wanted to know if anything worked for your child.
Info: He's 6. He has a cold aversion, so no cold/frozen anything. He can't take pills and prefers gummies or liquid medicine. His diet is limited. He does get 1mg melatonin, magnesium, and a multivitamin at night.
