Where is trucking going next 5yrs?
I'll begin by saying I'm new and haven't even had my permit for a week. I'll be stuck with a company paying for my cdl classes for about 2yrs. They pay really well but it's food service and I'd like to not do intense physical work for years if there are better options.
There are a few positions like fuel, linehaul, and whatever xpo does, that are intriguing to me now, but I'm very unaware of where the industry is headed and if these jobs will be as good as they are now or what jobs will be good later on "down the road" (truck drive joke ha!). I'm sure there will be "good" opportunities, especially with 2yrs in food service and the experience I'll gain, but these jobs seem desirable to me now, and I guess I'm afraid they'll slip away.
Any idea if it's worth holding out hope to get paid 6 figs hauling fuel and whatnot in a few years or are these jobs getting the juice sucked outta em idk
