Delayed Baggage…Please

Not that I am saying anyone should endorse this, but it was recently brought to my attention the amount of compensation that United offers for even delayed luggage domestically. Theoretically, does anyone have a suggestion or a surefire way to help ensure that a checked bag is delayed to its final destination? Asking for a friend of course.
