Has anyone with a history of lung issues, who’s fully recovered, taken Accutane? What was your experience?
Male 21 59 kg. I was prescribed Accutane 10 mg once daily by my dermatologist yesterday. Since the dose is low, no lab tests were requested.
For context, I had an active COVID infection in 2022. Afterwards, I was diagnosed with long COVID, which my doctors said caused my immune system to stay overactive, leading to pleural effusion and pneumonia. At the time, I was taking Zoloft 50 mg, and seven doctors concluded that my low immunity, combined with Zoloft, contributed to my severe lung issues. As a result, I was taken off Zoloft and was given steroids.
I am fully recovered now, but I’m anxious about starting Accutane, as I previously experienced lung complications from a medication. I took my first dose yesterday and immediately felt dizzy. I plan to consult my pulmonologist before continuing treatment.
I’d love to hear from anyone who had a history of lung issues, recovered, and then took Accutane—what was your experience? Any advice or reassurance would be greatly appreciated.
