Against Set: Metaphysics as Resistance

I’m working through an argument about philosophical origin as a political battleground rather than a neutral history. If philosophy is a sword, then the first struggle is over where it was forged and whose hands were erased from its lineage. Eurocentric reconstruction doesn’t just “interpret” origins; it often secures universality for Europe by making metaphysics look exclusively Greek and therefore implicitly European. I’m using Egyptian figures (Horus/Set, Osiris/Isis) not as decoration but as a way of thinking the relationship between myth and concept, and the way early philosophy sublimates symbolic worlds into principles (e.g., Thales and archē). This connects to commodity fetishism and mass cultural manipulation: the dulling of reason isn’t accidental, and the ego gets reorganized through spectacle and insecurity. I’m also trying to move beyond identity as endpoint: Blackness here is treated as a site of critique rather than a closed identity, and metaphysics becomes the ground from which political economy and political philosophy can proceed.
