please hear me out. to contextualize my A1C fluctuates more than it should. within a month it can vary by .5, i was recently admitted to the hospital and my A1C was 6.3, despite them also not giving me my metformin (for pcos) my bgl only went above 140 once and it was 144 (after eating a breakfast including fruit and juice.) i was there for maybe 4 days and it was consistently normal. they checked constantly. every time my bgl is checked fasting its under 100. my fructosamine levels are also normal and that’s been checked multiple times. 

i’m getting bariatric surgery and my surgeon thinks my red blood cells may be shaped wrong causing the fluctuations in A1C. he told me to get a referral to hematology from my pcp. he coded it as something with incorrect A1C readings and the hematology office won’t schedule me. the person at the front office just kept saying they don’t treat high blood glucose and to see someone else who does. i tried to explain the issue isn’t the glucose it’s the shape of the rbc and she wouldn’t listen at all. i need to schedule with my pcp to see if he can change the referral. anyhow, can anyone interpret this? i didn’t include a lot of things because there were a lot of pre surgery tests
